Trump B-School Ranking 2014 Methodology

Trump Career Solution B-School Rankings 2014 will be announced in few days. Before that, as the run up to the B-School Rankings 2014, we will bring to you the Specialization wise Rankings for 2014 – to help you select a B-School in a better way if you have already decided on a specialization. And even before that, in this article we bring to you the Ranking Methodology used by us in evaluating the B-Schools for 2014. Since, still the concept of getting the entire data audited by a reputed audit firm is not prevalent and accepted by B-Schools across the country – the major resources to get the data for the respective B-Schools have been: LinkedIn, Information available on average CTC offered at specific roles in companies (both for the campus hire and the lateral hire) and last but not the least, placement reports and other data released by respective B-Schools on their websites.

Let us now get to the different parameters at which B-Schools were evaluated.

Industry Perception
This refers to the respective B School being the preferred destination for placements by companies. Total of more than 60 companies’ HR recommendations have been considered here.

Return on Investment
Since we have designed the parameters which are taking care of the career growth over 3 years and then over 10 years, we are keeping the direct RoI parameter as a criteria. However, we have used Median CTC for the calculation of RoI and not the average CTC.

Median CTC offered to the last batch
Here, the median CTC figures announced in the placement reports have been taken into account. Depending on the ranges decided by our team, points have been allocated here.

Increase in Median CTC face to face the last batch
Here, the increase in the median CTC as compared to the last batch has been taken into account. For example: Latest data available for all B Schools is for 2013 MBA Class. Increase in median CTC has been compared face to face 2012 MBA Class.

Increase in the quality of profile (accountability extent wise) over ten years
Here, we have taken into the account the extent by which accountability, roles and responsibilities of the profiles held by alums of respective B Schools has increased over 10 years.

Increase in the quality of profile (accountability extent wise) over three years
Here, we have taken into the account the extent by which accountability of the profiles held by alums of respective B Schools have increased over 3 years.

Placement Success
We all know that quite a few B-Schools have not been able to place 100% students but they claim in reports to have achieved 100% placements. This parameter takes into account the false claims of B-Schools and the data to arrive at this has been gathered from the students of respective B-Schools, with no official stamp as official stamp will always say it to be 100%. Here B-Schools have been penalized on the basis of extent of false claims. For example: If a B-School that achieved 75% placement claimed to have achieved 100%, it would be penalized more than the B-School which claimed 100% but achieved only 90%. B-Schools that achieved 100% in real have got 5 out of 5 in this parameter.

Quality of Profiles offered on the campus
This takes into account the ACTUAL middle management / Individual Contributor profiles offered on the campus where students actually play some critical role either as a team or an individual. LinkedIn has served as the resource to pull out the information for this. Profiles of MBA Class of 2013 were reviewed to collect the information.

MBA Aspirants Perception
Here points have been allocated as per the preference at which students will keep a specific B School if given the chance to accept the admission offer.

Average CTC offered to the last batch
Here, the average CTC figures announced in the placement reports have been taken into account. Depending on the ranges decided by our team, points have been allocated here.

Alumni Recommends
If the recommendation to join the B-School by alumni comes as one of the first 4 suggestions out of closest 5 competitors, depending on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th choice suggested – points are allocated here.

International Exposure
Takes into account the opportunities and collaborations that B-School has to provide students. It can be either in the form of international student exchange programme or visiting faculties who have experience of teaching in B-Schools abroad.

Student Faculty Ratio
Self explanatory factor, that reflects on the average amount of time that a student can expect from the faculty.

Female Students
Percentage of number of female students in the regular full time courses of the respective B School.

Female Board Members
If diversity is talked about by B-Schools in the batch, then why not to talk about it in the Board as well? This parameter reflects to the diversity present in the Board of Members of respective B-Schools.
